Teaching Philosophy

Mr Grindrod prides himself on providing students with well-rounded musical education, encompassing a variety of styles and methods.

He provides a nurturing and comfortable environment for students to reach their full musical potential. Every music lesson is individually tailored to the student's goals and musical endeavours, thus achieving success.

Mr Grindrod teaches students from beginner up to diploma level. His resources cover repertoire from Classical, Contemporary, Jazz and Pop.

His students receive many awards with Honours (A) and High Distinctions (A+) with Music Exams. Mr Grindrod's studios are clean, safe and we provide a welcoming environment for his students to learn in. Parents are more than welcome to sit in on their child's music lesson.

Semester Recitals are also offered as a performance opportunity for all of his students.


As a versatile musician with a background in Classical, Jazz and Musical Theatre, Daniel inspires his students with his friendly and warm teaching manner. As a Music Director and Piano Accompanist, he has worked for Griffith University Queensland Conservatorium. Daniel's speciality is nurturing young students into developing a love for playing the piano. He achieves this by tailoring each lesson to suit their specific goals and repertoire requests. His aim is to make every piano lesson fun and engaging, while also pushing students to reach their full musical potential.

Daniel's teaching highlights include students successfully auditioning for the Bachelor of Music course at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. His students also receive Honours (A) and High Distinctions (A+) in their music examinations. Daniel has taught students from Somerville House, St Pauls College and Ambrose Treacy College.

Daniel is also a proficient accompanist capable of accompanying soloists to a very advanced level, including AMEB diploma exams and ABRSM. He has excellent sight reading skills and the ability to accompany in a variety of musical styles.

Daniel holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Piano from Griffith University and a Masters in Composition from QUT, as well as an AMusA diploma in classical piano. Daniel believes his diverse background has given expertise in a variety of musical styles. It is his belief that students should be given a well rounded combination of classical and contemporary repertoire in their lessons.

Daniel currently performs as part of The Hansen Trio which is held in high regard as Brisbane’s premier wedding ensemble. Daniel loves to perform on his Nord Electro when out and about and on a Yamaha Grand when in the comfort of his home.
